Casa Azulejo

Welcome to Casa Azulejo – come on in, you're gonna love it!

We’re Michael and Karina — a Mexican-American couple with two little adventurers always along for the ride. I’m a realtor, and Karina’s the executive assistant who keeps us all on track. For over five years, we’ve been all about creating cozy, functional spaces where travelers can truly unwind and feel right at home.

Casa Azulejo was born in Sacramento, but the inspiration behind it has roots in both of our stories. Karina lived in Querétaro for several years and got her start in hosting there. I’ve lived in many cities across the U.S., and those experiences (all the places I’ve called home) shaped my appreciation for thoughtful, welcoming spaces.

Back in California, we remodeled a 1918 gem in North Oak Park, gave it a full glow-up in 2019, and welcomed our first guests in 2020. That journey led us to open a second spot in West Sacramento, and eventually circle back to Querétaro, a place that holds a special place in Karina’s heart. Hosting there feels like sharing a little piece of home with you.

Travel lights us up. It shifts perspectives, sparks curiosity, and connects us with people and places. That’s why we care deeply about offering warm, welcoming stays that reflect our culture. It’s not just about the space — we work hard to keep everything exceptional and go above and beyond for our guests. It’s not always easy, but it’s what we love.

We’ve met some amazing people along the way, and we can’t wait to welcome you next!

Fun Fact: 'Azulejo' refers to the beautiful, painted ceramic tiles often found in Mexican, Spanish, and Portuguese architecture. These tiles, typically in shades of blue, are a significant part of the culture and history of these regions. The name ‘Casa Azulejo’ was inspired by this iconic tile, reflecting the vibrant and artistic spirit we love to share with our guests.
